In show 41, we tackled the classic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. You know the one: he goes to Hell to fetch her back, but looks at her and loses her? That one.

So, a bit of a heart-breaking ending. But along the journey to Hell and back, there were some amazing songs with spectacular musical arrangements from outoing musical director Sarah Jaysmith, especially the epic The Final Countdown, an audience favourite. Other great moments included the poignant (in context) Best Day Ever, the soaring Let the River Run, and, for sheer fun factor, three full-on 80s medleys.

Long before Broadway's Hadestown, this was a popular subject for Opera and Operetta. My favourite version is from 1607 by Monteverdi, and my favourite song is the first one, essentially a prologue sung by La Musica.

The Broadway Chorus is Vancouver's most irreverent community musical theatre group, performing Broadway songs like you've never seen before! If you want to be added to our mailing list, please let us know.
